Terdapat 15 SMP negeri meraih hasil tertinggi nasional. Dari ke-15 sekolah itu, lima di antaranya direbut dari Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta ( DIY). Kementerian Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan (Kemendikbud) telah mengumumkan hasil UN 2019 pada 28 Mei 2019. Adapun pelaksanaan UN diklaim menorehkan sejarah dengan ekspansi Ujian Nasional Berbasis Komputer (UNBK) hingga mencakup 83 persen peserta (3.581.169) dari 43.833 sekolah. Baca juga: Daftar 15 SMP Negeri Terbaik Nasional Peraih UN 2019 Tertinggi Pada tahun 2019, tujuh provinsi telah menyelenggarakan UNBK jenjang SMP 100 persen.

Untuk 22 provinsi menyelenggarakan UNBK jenjang MTS 100 persen, sedangkan ujian paket B untuk UNBK 100 persen di 33 provinsi. Ternyata, perluasan penyelenggaraan UNBK itu diiringi dengan kenaikan nilai sekolah-sekolah penyelenggara UNBK dibanding tahun 2018. "Kenaikan nilai tertinggi terjadi pada mata pelajaran Matematika," ujar Kepala Badan Penelitian dan Pengembangan (Balitbang), Totok Suprayitno, di Jakarta, Selasa (28/5/2019). Daftar 15 SMPN terbaik nasional pada UN 2019 Adapun rerata nilai UN terdiri dari mata pelajaran Bahasa Indonesia, Bahasa Inggris, Matematika, dan IPA. Nilai UN itu hanya salah satu standar atau indikator penilaian dalam proses pendidikan. Sebab, ada indikator lain yang perlu diperhatikan selain nilai UN. 15 SMP negeri terbaik nasional berdasarkan total rerata nilai UN 2019 yaitu:

  1. SMP Negeri 5 Yogyakarta: 95,26
  2. SMP Negeri 4 Pakem Yogyakarta: 94,22
  3. SMP Negeri 115 Jakarta: 93,78
  4. SMP Negeri 8 Yogyakarta: 93,61
  5. SMP Negeri 1 Surabaya: 93,52
  6. SMP Negeri 1 Godean Yogyakarta: 93,02
  7. SMP Negeri 255 DKI Jakarta: 92,06
  8. SMP Negeri 1 Magelang: 92,04
  9. SMP Negeri 1 Padang: 91,67 1
  10. SMP Negeri 2 Bantul Yogyakarta: 91,66
  11. SMP Negeri 1 Boyolali: 91,56
  12. SMP Negeri 1 Muntilan: 91,31
  13. SMP Negeri 2 Purworejo: 91,30
